Early Gulf Coast restoration projects to get $340M from BP

Initial projects to restore parts of the Gulf Coast damaged by the 2010 Macondo well oil spill will get $340 million from BP, said Sen. David Vitter, R-La. The U.K. oil major agreed to pay up to $1 billion for such efforts. BP last year began several projects to improve loggerhead sea turtle and bird habitats on some beaches in the Gulf Coast.
