Sensors will monitor environment around Tappan Zee Bridge project

Shoebox-size devices that have special sensors to monitor noise, dust and vibration levels during the construction of the new $3.9 billion Tappan Zee Bridge in New York will be installed atop poles in eight locations, four in Tarrytown and four in South Nyack. Piers of the existing bridge have already been installed with sensors to track construction vibrations. Once bridge construction starts, the monitoring data will be available to the public online.
