Wind energy to power proposed Minn. hydrogen production plant

Norfolk Wind Energy and Emerald H2 have signed a deal to develop what would be the nation's first commercial-scale venture to produce hydrogen with the help of wind-generated power. Under the plan, the two companies would build a wind farm in Renville County, Minn., with the initial capacity to deliver 40 megawatts of power, and up to 100 MW eventually, said Dave Scheibel, founder and president of Norfolk Wind Energy. The companies would use excess power from the wind farm to make hydrogen using Emerald H2's technology.
