Higher gestational diabetes risk seen with long-term bed rest

Pregnant women who were advised to take bed rest of more than seven days had a sixfold increased odds of developing gestational diabetes, a study indicated. Older maternal age was also tied to a higher risk of gestational diabetes, researchers found. The findings were presented at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists meeting.
