Many ICU infections may be prevented, study data show

A study that included 525 ICUs in six European countries estimated 52% of ventilator-associated pneumonia cases and 69% of bloodstream infections may have been prevented. The study data, collected from 2005 to 2008, were reported in the journal Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology.
