NYC schools find success with pilot social-emotional program

Educators at six schools in New York City took part in a social-emotional pilot program that focused on scaling up teachers' abilities to model SEL in their classrooms. The pilot also included a teacher collaboration and feedback component. Preliminary data on the program show improved student outcomes. "You can't get to the academics if you haven't dealt with the social emotional needs," one principal, Heather Foster-Mann, said.
