A company called Understory is looking to gather more accurate weather data by developing a network of ground-level weather sensors. The company, which brought in $1.9 million in a seed round, can use its weather stations to detect wind, rain and other conditions. It has already formed a deal with an insurance company, which can use the sensors to refine its claims process. Going forward, its client list could include media companies and other organizations that need high-quality weather data.
