4G Systems licenses OFDM, OFDMA from Qualcomm

Qualcomm's latest decision to enter into a royalty-bearing licensing agreement with German broadband-products manufacturer 4G Systems is designed to lend clout to the company's court claim that it holds essential patents for the emerging OFDM and OFDMA technologies, one writer says. The company is also warning supporters of WiMAX technology that an "IP tax" is likely.
