Report: Patent losses could cost drugmakers $140 billion

The expiration of patents on major drugs and the marketing of generic versions could result in a loss of $140 billion in annual sales for major drugmakers. A report from Datamonitor says the impact of expired patents will peak around 2011 or 2012.
