Study: Key gene called early step in understanding aging

Researchers say they have found a gene that helps regulate the process by which low-calorie diets can extend life spans, calling it a step in eventually understanding the genetic basis for the aging process. Scientists hope the research will lead to new drugs that delay the onset of such age-related diseases as Alzheimer's and cancer.
