Covidien announces 30% decrease in income

Covidien reported a 30% decrease in net income for its fiscal second quarter ended March 27 due in part to a decrease in sales of its imaging systems unit. The company expects its total net sales to drop by up to 3% and its Imaging Solutions sales to dip between 6% and 9% for the fiscal year. Covidien in January predicted that its imaging business would be affected by the months-long shutdown of a Dutch reactor that produces the isotope molybdenum-99.
