Spirit Aerospace reports smaller Q1 profit

First-quarter income fell 26% at Spirit Aerospace from year-ago levels, the company said. A two-month strike at Boeing that halted aircraft production hurt results for Spirit, which makes wing components and fuselage sections for commercial jetliners. President and CEO Jeff Turner said he expects the economic downturn to affect demand for the rest of the year.
