Analysis: More IT workers are needed to handle Big Data

The business focus on Big Data analytics and demand for management tools is facing a major hurdle: hiring people with the needed skills. "A significant constraint on realizing value from Big Data will be a shortage of talent, particularly of people with deep expertise in statistics and machine learning, and the managers and analysts who know how to operate companies by using insights from Big Data," states a 2011 McKinsey report that projected the need for 1.5 million additional workers to meet U.S. demand.
