Fire authority finds value in cutting-edge technology

The Poudre Fire Authority in Colorado gave Panasonic Toughbook laptops with GPS to first responders last year to help them find addresses and even fire hydrants, and now the agency plans to add digital tablets. Fire officials say the authority has been on the cutting edge of technology, adopting custom-molded radio earpieces and high-quality bunker gear, along with thermal cameras and air monitors.
