Mobile-device sales lag as Motorola awaits Google purchase

Motorola Mobility's loss deepened in the first quarter compared with a year earlier as revenue inched up 2% on a 4.3% decline in cellphone and tablet sales, the company reported Tuesday. The bright spot: Smartphone unit sales grew 24% to 5.1 million. Motorola predicted that its sale to Google would close by July, saying the deal has been held up by Chinese authorities.
