When applying for academic administration jobs, candidates should emphasize why they are a proper fit for the institution, writes Robert J. Sternberg, provost and senior vice president at Oklahoma State University. Job seekers also should be well-prepared, learn everything they can about the school and show pep during interviews, he notes in this commentary. "Be sure you convey to your interviewers the energy and enthusiasm you feel. And if you don't feel energetic and enthusiastic about the job, don't apply," he writes.
