EU proposal would protect depositors during bank failures

EU nations are considering a proposal that would make depositors the last creditors to face losses in the event of a bank collapse. The proposal has emerged as member nations work on a draft EU law that could force larger savers to face losses during banking crises. EU officials, however, are concerned that the move would prompt savers to move their money elsewhere.
