Europe leads the way in light airplane design

Flying Magazine editor in chief Robert Goyer writes that the Part 23 standards for safe light airplane design are out of date, and making it economically impossible for companies such as Cessna, Piper or Cirrus to produce them. But European manufacturers such as Pipistrel, FlightDesign and Tecnam are moving forward with modern, light and relatively economical designs.
