Judge halts taxi-hailing app pilot program in New York City

The Livery Roundtable, Black Car Assistance Corp. and others have blocked a New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission pilot program that would allow users to hail cars by tapping on location-based mobile applications such as those by Uber and Hailo. An appellate judge issued an emergency injunction putting the pilot program on hold pending further review, although a complaint that the apps discriminate against minorities and the elderly was dismissed last week, Chris Dolmetsch writes.
