School's fair highlights math in traditional culture, everyday life

Eskasoni Elementary & Middle School in Nova Scotia recently held its annual Show Me Your Math! fair, which highlighted the many ways math is part of students' lives. Students from the Mi'kmaq First Nation explained how their traditional dreamcatchers require math to build, while other demonstrations showcased how math skills such as counting, locating, measuring and designing are used throughout the culture and in daily life.
