Success of "Downton Abbey" inspires merchandise lines

Retailers have been catering to fans of "Downton Abbey" since the series proved a surprise hit in the UK three seasons ago, selling everything Edwardian from fur capes and arm-length gloves to sherry. The show has gone on to capture the imagination of viewers in the US and other global markets, spurring the producers to plan a launch of "Downton"-branded products. "We'll be working across an entire range of products coming out this year. From fashion, apparel and homeware and furniture to wallpapers, beauty products and stationery," said producer Gareth Neame.
