About 61% of large retailers already use a mobile checkout system or plan to by the end of the year, according to Yankee Group, but retailers lag when it comes to incorporating tech innovations into the rest of the shopping process, especially inventory management, LightSpeed founder and CEO Dax Dasilva writes. "At the end of the day, the payment is the easy part. What retailers really need is all the other stuff -- using data to transform the harder aspects of retail management so that it benefits both their business and their customers," Dasilva writes.
