Bringing convenience to the produce aisle

With the government doubling its recommendations for fruits and vegetable consumption, food companies such as Sunkist and Ready Pac are testing pre-cut fruit packages to make produce more convenient. While pre-packaged fruit has a higher labor cost, the companies hope increased demand will offset the increase. The companies are displaying the new products at the Food Marketing Institute Show this week in Chicago.
