U.S. puts Israel on intellectual property watch list

Israel had been off the list since 2003, but the latest priority watch list for 2005 from the U.S. Trade Representative's office cites the Mideast country, apparently because of a dispute between the two countries over Israel's protection of pharmaceutical intellectual property. The trade representative's office said progress had been made in negotiations during the past year, but Israel failed to meet U.S. demands. But Israel's chief negotiator said the watch list decision was the result of "brutal pressure" by U.S. drug companies.
