NYSE diversifies, updates bond-trading platform

The New York Stock Exchange, in an effort to diversify, is reducing its reliance on equity trading and updating its bond-trading platform, where it aims to carry as many as 6,000 tradable bonds. The change includes the NYSE Euronext's replacement of its automated bond system with a new system from Archipelago, the electronic-communications network it acquired in 2006.
