American report says schedule disruptions could have been avoided

American Airlines contends that massive flight disruptions that resulted recently from grounding its fleet of MD-80s would not have happened if a tentative agreement between the airline and the FAA had been honored, according to media reports. American made the statements in a report prepared for the DOT. The FAA is expected to dispute American's claims, the media reports say.
