Innovation is the secret ingredient that can allow small companies to compete with, and beat, bloated corporate giants, says OfficeMax Chief Marketing Officer Bob Thacker. You can't go out and buy passion and creativity, Thacker notes, so small outfits can generate innovative ideas just as easily as big players. "We've gotten huge returns on small investments," he adds.
