Official: Shell close to obtaining permits for Alaskan drilling project

Shell Oil might be close to securing the Department of the Interior's approval to drill as many as five wells in the Chukchi and Beaufort seas in Alaska, said Dan Sullivan, the head of the state's Natural Resource Department. "Shell reapplied for permits, and I think they're ready to get them," he said. The department "says its moving forward on it," he added.
