Experimental filling kills oral bacteria

A new cavity-preparation mouthwash, a cavity filler and a cement kill bacteria and smooth teeth, University of Maryland researchers say. The use of nano-sized silver and calcium particles may help fillings last longer, researchers said. The system has performed well in the laboratory but has not been tested in animal or human teeth yet.
