Md., Northern Va. need more than $1.5B for road maintenance

Maryland needs to spend $870 million per year and Northern Virginia needs $700 million per year for its crumbling road infrastructure. "The fact of the matter is if we're going to dig our way out of this transportation congestion, then we need a new source of revenue," said Virginia state Sen. Barbara Favola. "And yes, that will mean some kind of new fee or tax. There's no getting around it."
