Researchers push the wireless data envelope with 60 GHz chip

Belgian engineers have produced a prototype of a 60 GHz radio transceiver chip that could greatly enhance the speed of data transfers between wireless devices at short distances. The breakthrough could lead to data rates of up to 7 gigabits per second, according to the Imec research lab. That would allow device owners to push considerably more data between devices.
