Mechanical engineer takes the tedium out of ancient art

The ancient, labor-intensive art of mosaics is getting some modern robotic help at Artaic, a company launched by Ted Acworth, a mechanical engineer with a doctorate from Stanford University. A robot arm, Acworth found, is the perfect solution for a job that can require two hours of tedious human work to complete one square foot of mosaic.
