Mobile ad fraud set to cost advertisers almost $1 billion this year

A study estimates advertisers will waste almost $1 billion on bogus mobile publishers and leads this year, due to robotic programs generating false mobile ad traffic. The study by Solve Media found that 14% of 7 million tracked mobile transactions in the first quarter were definitely generated by such programs, with another 29% generating suspicions. "It's easier for bad guys to infiltrate mobile. It's a much newer technology and the industry lacks the sophistication to stop it," said Ari Jacoby, CEO of Solve Media.
