The American Petroleum Institute has appointed National Rifle Association lobbyist Christopher Rager as director of state relations. This comes as API continues to promote the role of hydraulic fracturing in tapping oil and natural gas from shale formations. "Rager has a strong background in creating and running legislative, political, grassroots and PAC campaigns. His federal and state legislative experience will go a long way to effectively advocating our industry's interests," said Rolf Hanson, senior director of state government relations at API.
