Suicide rate among middle-aged Americans on the rise

The number of 35- to 64-year-olds who committed suicide increased by 28%, from 13.7 suicides per 100,000 in 1999 to 17.6 in 2010, CDC researchers wrote in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. Meanwhile, the suicide rates among people ages 10 to 34 as well as those 65 and older showed no significant change.
