Test shaft drilling starts for $2.6B Ohio River Bridges project

Drilling has started on a test shaft for the type of piers that will support a span of the $2.6 billion Ohio River Bridges project between Kentucky and Indiana. Walsh Construction Co. will drill a 50-foot deep, 7.5-foot-diameter shaft, fill it with concrete and conduct various tests on it. Actual construction is slated to start in July and is expected to be finished in April 2016.
