Conn. district to ban homemade foods for classroom celebrations

A Connecticut school district will ban food prepared off campus, such as homemade baked goods, from being brought into the classroom beginning in the next school year to better protect students with food allergies. The ban will include items such as cupcakes for students' birthdays. Supporters said the change will allow educators to find ways to celebrate achievements without sugary foods.
