EPA to hear public opinion on using contaminated lands for renewable facilities

The Environmental Protection Agency is seeking public comment on the draft plan of installing renewable power facilities on contaminated lands, landfills and mining areas, until May 30. The plan, a part of the agency's RE-Powering America's Land Initiative, aims to reuse lands and areas that have limited other uses. "Such projects would displace development on more pristine, undeveloped land and help clean up contaminated areas," EPA said.
