Texas' wind power sector is expected to add 8,600 megawatts new installed capacity in 2017, according to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas. The state's electricity generation should be able to handle the summer rise in demand, ERCOT said. Last year, the wind sector accounted for almost 10% of power generation in the state. "Texas continues to be the leader in wind power generation for the entire country," said Robbie Searcy, ERCOT communications manager.
