Maine enlists teachers to help design evaluations

Lawmakers in Maine recently passed legislation requiring evaluations for educators, and on Thursday they passed an amendment to the law, requiring a committee -- comprised mostly of teachers -- to help develop the educator-evaluation tool. In one district, officials said they are working on a system in which 20% of teachers' evaluations would be based on students' test scores, but some officials have raised concerns over the use of testing data.
