Wal-Mart Stores has developed a grocery pickup center that it plans to test in Bentonville, Ark., after a drive-thru pickup test at 11 locations in the Denver market received a 90% approval rating. The 15,000-square-foot prototype space will allow customers to place an order online and pick it up from the stand-alone center, where customers will not have to leave their cars. "We don't think consumers should have to pay more for convenience, which is why we continue to innovate and look for new ways their shopping needs can be met," Wal-Mart spokeswoman Deisha Barnett said of the facility, which is awaiting approval from the city.
