Old-building renovators face tall order of code hurdles

When faced with renovating old buildings, architects must think on their feet and consider a plethora of challenges involved in bringing buildings up to code. Building upgrades include everything from installing proper wiring and HVAC systems to making buildings accessible to people with disabilities, adding staircases and elevators, and possibly retrofitting to reinforce infrastructures.
