Senator critical of FDA action on Canadian drugs

Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., says a U.S. Food and Drug Administration crackdown on the importation of cheaper Canadian drugs has a "Big Brother" quality that concerns him, but FDA officials insist they have not stepped up enforcement of the ban on importing drugs from foreign countries. Nelson is a co-sponsor of a bill to legalize importing Canadian drugs from FDA-inspected facilities.
