Poor behaviour forces corporal punishment of students in India

Corporal punishment is common in schools in India, with 65% of students reporting that physical punishment is used in their schools, according to a 2007 study. "Most children in my school are criminal-minded," said Dr S.C. Sharma, a principal. "We have caught them stealing fans from classrooms and even the iron grills from the windows. How do you discipline such kids?"
