Apple reports many stores sold out of new iPad 3G

In the iPad 3G's debut weekend, Apple sold about 300,000 of the $629 cellular-enabled devices -- about the same number sold during the first weekend of the $499 version that went on sale about a month ago, according to Piper Jaffray & Co. analyst Gene Munster, although he notes the comparisons are not identical. By Sunday afternoon, many stores had reported selling out of the new product.
