Many cases of hepatitis C aren't identified in children

U.S. researchers estimated Florida has 12,155 cases of hepatitis C infection among children, but only about 14.4% of these cases of pediatric infection were identified and only about 1.2% of the infected children were being treated by a pediatric hepatologist. The lead researcher said the missed cases of pediatric infection can be attributed to the lack of sufficient screening and awareness about the disease.
