N.C. mayor adopts "green-fleet" policy for city vehicles

Cars and trucks owned and operated by all departments in the city of Washington, N.C., have been instructed to use alternative fuels and other emissions-reduction practices as part of a "green-fleet" policy set by the mayor. Vehicle operations make up about 42% of the city's energy bill, said Matt Rauschenbach, the city's chief financial officer.
