Olive oil linked to lower risk of ulcerative colitis

A British study of more than 25,000 people found that participants with a diet rich in olive oil and other foods containing oleic acid were less likely to develop ulcerative colitis. The oleic acid seems to block chemicals in the bowels that aggravate the inflammation associated with the disease, the lead researcher said.
