House, Senate make recommendations for science funding

Committees in the House and Senate have created proposed funding levels for the National Science Foundation, the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the Office of Science and Technology Policy. The Senate Appropriations Committee recommended funding the NSF at $7.273 billion, which is $240 million above the agency's fiscal 2012 budget but below President Barack Obama's proposal.
