Increasing materials costs slightly slow manufacturing activity

The Institute for Supply Management says the economy is growing, but increases in certain material prices dampened the ISM's manufacturing index by 0.1 in April, as it missed analysts' expectations and fell from 62.5 to 62.4. The ISM pricing index increased to 88 last month from 86 in March, and 77% of supply executives surveyed reported paying higher prices.
